Membership Information
King County Nurses Association is District #2 of the Washington State Nurses Association. To join KCNA, nurses first join the Washington State Nurses Association then are automatically members of KCNA and the American Nurses Association. Click here for membership details including fees.

Board of Directors
The KCNA Board of Directors consists of nurse members in the following positions:- President
- Vice President
- Treasurer
- Secretary
- Ten Members at Large
Officers are elected for two-year terms by a vote of the membership. In addition, three members of the Nominating Committee are elected by a vote of the membership for one-year terms.

Special Interest Groups
KCNA sponsors several special interest groups, open to KCNA members and nurses in the community.Groups include:
- Neighborhood Health
This group is active in the community, bringing nursing to traditionally underserved populations. The group has participated with the Capitol Hill Youth Center, the Salvation Army Adult Rehab Center, The SIDS Foundation, the Union Gospel Mission Women's and Family Shelter, and the Youth Homeless Center at the Congregational Church. - Nurse Legal Consultants
This group provides educational and networking opportunities for nurses interested in legal consulting. Meetings include speakers and discussion on a wide range of legal consulting issues. - Chronic Care
- Complementary & Alternative Medicine
Committees
KCNA also has active committees for KCNA members, including:- Bylaws
- Interpret the Bylaws.
- Review proposed amendments to the Bylaws and recommend proposed action to the Board of Directors.
- Present to the membership proposed amendments to the Bylaws upon recommendation of the Board of Directors.
- Governmental Affairs
- Assist with implementation of the plans as directed by the Board of Directors.
- Monitor King County health issues and recommend appropriate action to the Board of Directors.
- Develop issue briefing on health related topics.
- Developing and distributing a biennial candidate survey for King County elections.
- Membership/Public Relations/Awards
- Study and evaluate matters pertaining to membership promotion and retention.
- Promote communication and understanding between KCNA and Registered Nurses.
- Promote KCNA through media relations.
- Actively recruit student participation in KCNA.
- Plan and evaluate biennial membership survey.
- Nominating
- Prepare a slate of candidates for KCNA offices.
- Present candidate slate to the membership for approval.
- Program
- Plan public and nurse-oriented events to reflect the interests of nurse members.
- Participate in events and represent KCNA.
- Evaluate events based on participants' input.
- Scholarship
- Review scholarship applications and select recipients.
- Review and evaluate the scholarship process.
- Support fund raising efforts.
