The King County Nurses Association (KCNA) is
a professional organization of registered nurses,
committed to promoting healthy communities through
education, advocacy, and outreach.

Goals

Provide services that engage members

Objectives:
  • Design and implement services and activities to engage the membership and other interested parties.
  • Recruit members to become involved in KCNA activities.
  • Increase participation of new graduates in KCNA.

Manage resources to maintain organizational stability

Objectives:
  • Practice fiscal responsibility (build/maintain financial reserves).
  • Increase non-dues revenues to KCNA.

Collaborate with professional organizations and community groups to further the misson of KCNA

Objectives:
  • Increase our networking/collaborating activites with other organizations.
  • Become more informed about and involved in the issues or needs of King County outside of metropolitan Seattle.

Recognize and acknowledge excellence in nursing

Objectives:
  • Promote public awareness of nursing excellence.
  • Offer student scholarships to culturally diverse students.
  • Recognize and promote innovation/research-based outcomes.

History and Membership

Founded in 1903, KCNA is the largest of 26 district organizations serving registered nurses through the Washington State Nurses Association. Membership averages 2,200 RNs, representing all areas of practice, education, and health care delivery systems.
